FIDM Alumna Mona May, the famed costume designer behind films such as Clueless and Enchanted, will be on campus on Wednesday, February 8, 2012, from 11am to 12pm in FIDM Annex Room A332. She will speak to Students about her career and bring a portfolio of her work. Her latest film for 2012 is Vamps, starring Sigourney Weaver and Malcolm McDowell.
FIDM San Diego recently welcomed Fashion 5.0 Magazine for an on campus presentation. The local magazine put together a short video clip of the visit.
Business Management and Merchandise Product Development Alumna Alison Carreon recently returned to FIDM to speak to students at the Orange County campus. She talked about landing internships with The Donegar Group, a trend forecasting company, and Saks Fifth Avenue while still in school. "One of the most valuable lessons FIDM instilled in me is that we live and work in a world that revolves around truly connecting with people," she explains. "Returning to FIDM to interact with the Premier Product Development students at the OC Campus was a wonderful and rewarding experience."
After graduation, Alison worked for Forever 21 and was then recruited back to The Donegar Group to work as a Market Analyst. She then reconnected fellow FIDM Alumna Amy Nicole Bernstein, who is the co-founder and stylist for Wardrobe Wear. Alison and Amy have partnered with Rebecca Jonah to launch an exciting digital fashion community, Wear to Click, coming in early 2012.

FIDM Student Activities and FIDM Alumni Relations hosted a sewing party to create dresses and clothing for little girls and boys in Africa.
FIDM’s Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society hosted the annual fundraising event Passionately Pink For the Cure on Wednesday, October 19. Students, faculty, and staff gathered in the student lounge to raise awareness about breast cancer for the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Over $1200 was raised as the group nibbled on delicious desserts donated by “Ah, How Sweet” and bid on fun gift baskets including one filled with alumna Chan Luu’s jewelry.

Forty-five FIDM Alumni and Students joined forces with 30,000 other supporters at the 27th annual AIDS Walk LA in West Hollywood on Sunday, October 16th. The FIDM group, under the leadership of Alumni Director Bill Cliatt, raised $1625 on the 10K charity walk.
FIDM celebrated the 20th annual Career Connections event on July 27, 2011. Eight hundred FIDM Students joined more than 70 Alumni at the Los Angeles campus and similar high turnouts occured in San Francisco as well. Students were able to meet with successful Graduates of FIDM, network, and receive insight on career opportunities.

Merchandise Marketing Alumna Minet Taylor was recently on the San Diego campus, with her sister Natalie, as a guest speaker. The sisters have recetnly opened a men's and women's boutique called Dolcetti, located in the Gaslamp District. The boutique has been featured in San Diego magazine and Fashion 5.0.
