FIDM Saddened by Loss of Student in Metrolink Accident

08175j_memorial_flowers_dsc6504 This weekend was a sad one for FIDM Staff and Students. We learned that FIDM Student Maria Elena Villalobos was one of the victims of Friday's tragic Metrolink train accident. Another FIDM student is undergoing surgery as a result of the crash. Tonian Hohberg, FIDM's President issued the following statement regarding the loss:

"On behalf of the faculty, staff and students at FIDM/Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, we are deeply saddened by the loss of our wonderful student, Maria Elena Villalobos, who tragically lost her life in the recent Metrolink train accident.  We send condolences to her family, friends and all those affected by this horrible event.  She was in her first year, first quarter at the college, and lived in the north valley…

A second student, Racheal Mofya, a lovely student from Zambia, was unfortunately injured in the same accident, and has undergone surgery; we extend our deepest wishes for a complete recovery to her, her family, her country, friends and classmates.  Floral offerings are placed at the College in honor of both students."
