FIDM Footwear Design Program Grads' Shoe Featured in December Vogue Magazine

ShoeArticle Success!

The model in the photo at left is wearing a pair of sandals designed by FIDM Footwear Design Program Grads Cherise Angelle and Nicole LaFave from their Omelle (ähm' elle) line.

Here's a snippit from their site:

"Amidst illustrations, scrap fabrics and inspiration boards at LA's prestigious Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, two shoe-obsessed designers discovered a common interest—luxury footwear with a distinct and imaginative voice."

Sounds like they'll have some interesting things to say in that voice! --Belissa

FIDM Makes World Trade Magazine's "Fabulous 50" List!

FIDM is featured in World Trade Magazine's special annual "Fabulous 50" issue, alongside the Hershey Company,  Sun Microsystems, and Mozilla's Firefox in a list of "the companies, people, and places who are moving the global trading community forward." The industry magazine writes of FIDM: "...the college is keenly aware of what kinds of courses and experiences graduates need to hit the ground running. At FIDM, they recognize that educating a new generation of fashion students calls for just as much emphasis on global sourcing, manufacturing, and supply chains as strutting your stuff down the runway." The issue hits newsstands in September. --Kim

FIDM Grad Uses Lottery Win to Fund Dream Business

Vani_kumar
When FIDM Apparel Manufacturing and Management Grad Vani Kumar hit the jackpot--literally--she used the $286,665 to bring the detailed business plan she'd just created to life. Amazingly, her winnings came within $200 of what she needed to start The Suit Closet, a downtown Los Angeles shop filled with--you guessed it--suits. LA Weekly has a great profile on the lucky lady here. --Kim
