FIDM Profiled in L.A. Times Article "Majoring in Chic at L.A. Fashion Schools"

FidmlatimesThe L.A. Times takes a look at the fashion schools that feed into L.A. "vibrant fashion industry." It mentions one of FIDM's fabulously talented Advanced Fashion Design Students, Alejandro Ortega:  "The 31-year-old Ortega chose FIDM over schools in New York and Barcelona because of graduates such as Monique Lhuillier, Kevan Hall and others who've launched successful clothing labels and added to the $340 billion U.S. apparel and footwear industry." It's well worth a read--and don't miss the wonderful quotes from venerable Fashion Design Program Director Mary Stephens, which conclude the article.

HuffPo Picks FIDM as #2 Fashion College in Nation

FIDM's Canstruction Handbag Featured in OC Register

The structures, including FIDM's incredible handbag made out of 9,500 cans of food valued at more than $20,000, is on display at South Coast Plaza until September 25.

Merchandise Product Development Alumna in Riviera Magazine

Picture 2 Merchandise Product Development Alumna Kendall Zundell and her Oceanside, California-based line Kendall K is featured in Riviera San Diego.

The collection, which is inspired by vintage femininity and European modernity, is sold at Fred Segal in L.A., It's a Love Thing in Encinitas, and Kyss in Carlsbad.

"For fall, the focus is all about gold metallic thread, satin, and '20s-inspired boatnecks, dropped belts, and tassels," she tells the magazine.

WWD-7-14-11 FIDM Alumna Karen Kane's black and white polka dot silk blouse and rayon, nylon, and spandex skirt made the cover of Women's Wear Daily on Thursday, July 14, 2011.

"The better market is looking, well, pretty great these days thanks to graphic plays in sleek black and white," says WWD.

Sandy_front FIDM Alumna Johnna Strycharz, the designer behind the wedding dress label Johnna Ho, recently saw her designs featured in the June 2011 issue of BRIDES magazine. In addition to her design career, Johnna is also one of FIDM's College Representatives, based out of New Jersey.
