FIDM Student Marc Blaskovits won a contest to create the official t-shirt for L.A.'s upcoming "Fashion's Night Out" event. Proceeds from the sale of the t-shirt will benefit the California Fashion Foundation's scholarship program.
Marc, an International Student who grew up in Luxembourg and graduated from France's Ecole de Condé, is graduating with two degrees, one from each of FIDM's Graphic Design specialty programs, Branding and Entertainment. We asked him to tell us a little bit more about the competition and his FIDM experience.
What was your concept for the t-shirt? I was inspired by New York's Fashion's Night Out t-shirt. I had the idea to recreate the skyline of Downtown Los Angeles, where I actually live and which I'm in love with. But the difference between Los Angeles and the other big cities are the ocean, the palm trees, and the beach. I love the combination of the modern downtown with the traditional beach.
How did you find out about FIDM? It was very important for me to continue in the fashion industry, but as a Graphic Designer. I found FIDM online. It really caught my eye and now I'm in Los Angeles, a city I've always admired.
What do you like most about the program? The teachers. They are great and I really learned a lot. Also, FIDM helped me to grow up and that was really important.
What are your career goals? I want to be a Graphic Designer for a fashion brand. Hopefully I will get something as a result of this competition. I would like to stay in Los Angeles because I'm sure I have something to offer the community.
