FIDM Alumna Monique Lhuillier is a genius at dressing women's bodies, and come spring, she'll be dressing their feet too when she launches her first shoe collection. "I’ve always wanted to dress women from head to toe," Lhuillier told WWD. The initial capsule collection of fifteen styles will expand to a full collection for Fall 2013, and will include day, evening, and naturally, bridal styles. The shoes, which will retail from $595 to $1,195, feature exotic skins and Lhuillier's signature lace details. "I wanted them to be sexy, feminine, and glamorous," she said. The Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art is fashion's biggest night. On Monday night, Ginnifer Goodwin hit the red carpet with FIDM Alumna Monique Lhuillier, who dressed the actress in an on-trend orange gown with a center slit.
The benefit, often referred to as the Met Gala, celebrates the museum's new exhibition, Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations and the evening is co-chaired by Carey Mulligan, Vogue's Anna Wintour, and Miuccia Prada.

As previously reported, Shannen Doherty wed Kurt Iswarienko at a pal's private Malibu estate on Saturday -- and Us Weekly can exclusively reveal that the former 90210 star wore a Monique Lhuillier gown for her walk down the aisle.
"I felt great," Doherty told Us in a post-wedding chat on Sunday. "My dress [was] stunning."
And Doherty, whose nuptials will be part of her WE reality show Shannen Says premiering in 2012, had absolutely no bouts of indecision when it came to saying yes to the dress.

Two weeks before I was supposed to go to college my step-dad, who works in the fashion business as a rep, pulled out this letter from FIDM and said, “You should call,” since they still were accepting applications. R&B singer Eric Benet married Manuela Testolini over the weekend in Newport Beach, California. She wore a one-of-a-kind Monique Lhuillier wedding gown featuring a beaded bodice.

Rita Wilson has penned an essay in Harper's BAZAAR about her first invitation to Buckingham Palace on the occasion of a state banquet in honor of President and Mrs. Obama. Wilson attended with husband Tom Hanks.

"Thankfully, my dress arrived, and it was perfect. A Monique Lhuillier, it had sheer sleeves with sequins, a structured bodice, and a long, full tulle skirt. It had a slightly high waist, but I had a quick alteration done to lower it. (I am making this sound like it happened effortlessly. It didn't. There were probably 25 gowns I tried on in a cold sweat as Big Ben was ticking.)"
TV host Vanessa Minnillo married Nick Lachey on Friday at a clifftop wedding on Necker Island. She wore a two-piece Monique Lhuillier creation featuring an intricately embellished lace corset with rose and crystal detail and a signature hand tufted skirt made of silk faile.
The tropical wedding will be seen on an upcoming TLC wedding special called Nick & Vanessa's Dream Wedding on July 30, from 9pm to 11pm ET/PT.
According to Women's Wear Daily, FIDM Fashion Design Alumna Monique Lhuillier will be opening a bridal salon on the Upper East Side in Manhattan. The designer is also looking at separate spaces to house a her ready-to-wear collection.
Lhuillier currently has salons in Los Angeles and Edina, Minnesota.

"The craziest thing I ever had to do for the company was fly to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico to deliver a veil to one of our brides, due to incidents unforeseen from both parties. I had to catch a flight to Cabo at 3:30 p.m. I touched down at 6:20 p.m., went through customs, delivered the veil to Carlos (the family driver), went through customs once more, and then got back on the same airplane before it took off at 7:10 that night. You never forget your first career jet set!"
