FIDM Grad Hosts HGTV's Design on a Dime

FIDM Interior Design Grad Casey Noble is the new host of HGTV’s Design on a Dime. After completing her degree at the interior design school, the Redondo Beach native opened her firm Avenue Interior Design in Venice with 2 partners, for residential and commercial design projects. In 2010, she was a contestant in the fifth season of HGTV’s Design Star. On her current show, Noble shows guests how to make the most of what they already have and shop for one-of-a-kind “fun accessories that can add a moment of interest and style.” Among her SoCal favorite spots for vintage hunting are Wertz Brothers, the Rose Bowl , and Long Beach flea markers.

 

Winners Announced for the Pasadena Magazine FIDM VisComm Competition

For the second year, FIDM Visual Communications Students were recently challenged by Pasadena Magazine to create visual displays in four Pasadena stores (Macy’s, Whole Foods, Barnes & Noble, and the Pasadena Convention Center), with the theme of “Reasons to Love Pasadena”. 

Photographs of all four teams’ designs are featured in the December 2011 issue the magazine and the winning team’s installation will be featured in the magazine in January 2012.

The members of the winning team, Sasha Lewis, Megan Sveum, and Dylan Thomas each won $500, for a total of $1,500 in cash and prizes. Their design of stacked suitcases was at the Pasadena Convention Center, celebrating travel and tourism in Pasadena. Their victory was announced at a reception at Macy’s Pasadena, where the 2012 Tournament of Roses® Rose Queen & Royal Court were the models in an Eileen Fisher fashion show.

The judging panel was comprised of Brian Dyches, International President of the Retail Design Institute; Daryn-Reid Goodall, a nine-time Emmy nominee and current Set Decorator for Disney’s Shake It Up!; and Timothy Opsomer, Vice President of Visual Merchandising and Store Planning for MGM Resorts International.

Just Accepted Interior Design Student Wants to Design Movie Sets and Homes

Mansfield, Texas native Madelaine Southerland is excited to move to Los Angeles and study Interior Design in hopes of a career designing movie sets and homes.

"My proudest accomplishment so far is getting accepted into FIDM! FIDM is right for me because it will give me an insight of how the industry actually works."

Interior Design Grad Featured in California Homes Magazine

Sean S. Hashemiam, a Graduate of the Interior Design Program, is the Principal Designer of Casa Siena, a firm working primarily in and around Los Angeles. His work was featured in the October and December issues of California Homes magazine.

Interior Design Alumnus's Work Featured on HGTV's "Celebrity Holiday Homes"

Ruben Marquez, a 2011 Graduate of FIDM's Interior Design Program, assisted designer Sandra Espinet in transforming the home of actress Alison Sweeney for a Hollywood glamour-themed Christmas for an episode of Celebrity Holiday Homes on HGTV. The new episode wll air on Sunday, December 18, 2011.

Ruben also worked on actress Eva LaRue's (pictured right, with Sandra) Santa's Workshop-themed home that aired last week and will re-run through Christmas.

Shirry Dolgin Competing on HGTV's Design Wars

Interior Design Alumna Shirry Dolgin is competing on the new HGTV show, Design Wars, where she'll battle it out against two other top designers for a chance to redesign a problem space for a family. The series debuts on Friday, December 2, 2011 at 1pm and will continue through 2012.

Interior Design Alumna Hired by Bradley Bayou

Famed designer Bradley Bayou recently hired Interior Design Alumna Avanissa Espinoza to be a Designer/Assistant for his new interior and  home products division. Bradley interviewed candidates from several schools and said he was most impressed with Graduates of FIDM.

FIDM Alumna Hosts HGTV's "Design on a Dime"

HGTV's Design on a Dime, currently airing now, is hosted by Interior Design Alumna Casey Noble. The show takes creative, accessible, and affordable design to the next level by dispelling the notion that a beautiful room has to be expensive.

Interior Design Alumna Shirry Dolgin to be Featured on HGTV

FIDM Interior Design Alumna Shirry Dolgin of A.S.D. Interiors was the designer of the home that will be featured on HGTV's Selling LA on November 3rd at 10pm. You'll get an inside look at the one-of-a-kind home she designed in Malibu.

Shirry will also appear on a the HGTV show Design Wars in late November.

Just Accepted Interior Design Student Stacy Tran is a SoCal native who has been passionate about art and design her entire life.
