This year's partner Bisou Bisou collaborated with JCPenney and FIDM in challenging the students to create a series of designs for the Bisou Bisou label. The students developed their designs with mentorship from Bisou Bisou founder and designer Michele Bohbot. The winner, Jenny McClain, will receive a $2,000 scholarship and her winning designs will by produced by Bisou Bisou and sold at select JCPenney stores nationwide.

Interior Design Students Win Thos. Moser Awards

Picture 1 Thos. Moser, one of the world’s foremost designers and builders of solid wood furniture, recently teamed with FIDM Interior Design Students for a design challenge in a special Furniture Construction and Design class, during the Winter 2011 quarter, at the Los Angeles and San Francisco campus locations.

The 10 class members at each FIDM campus were given the challenge to create an original furniture design in the Moser style, specifically, a companion piece for the Thos. Moser “Lolling Chair”; in essence, they were to design a “New Sidekick for the Moser Lolling Chair.”

S.F. Student Meghan Carozza and L.A. Student Maelee Lungren (pictured) were each the winner of the Thos. Moser Design Committee Award. They will be flown to Maine, by FIDM, where they will meet key designers, Thos. Moser associates, and take a factory tour of the Thos. Moser headquarters.

"Working with Thos Moser on this design challenge was an amazing experience. We as a group were all very supportive of each other's designs, and all shared our advice," said recent Graduate Ryan Campbell, who won the People's Choice Award for his dog bed design. "I am very proud of ourselves as a collective group, and was impressed with how wide a range our designs were."

S.F. Student Jamie Clugston and L.A. Student Mark Griffin received the Interior Design ASID Industry Award. Congrats to all of the award recipients.
