TOMS Shoes Visits FIDM

TOMS Shoes visited FIDM last Wednesday, holding a trunk sale and giving a presentation in the FIDM Museum & Galleries.  TOMS Shoes is more than just a shoe company--they're also a humanitarian effort. For every pair of shoes sold, TOMS donates a pair to a child in need. They sold over 70 shoes at the FIDM event! Students also had the chance to mingle and talk with everyone involved.

FIDM Alumni Celebrate Earth Day At "Out of the Ordinary" Fashion Event

KevanHall2KevanHall3

Tonight, Dita Von Teese and Debi Mazar will celebrate Earth Day in style as hosts of the inaugural "Out of the Ordinary" remade fashion event at L.A. vintage mecca The Way We Wore. Shop owner and vintage maven Doris Raymond rounded up some of her favorite designers, such as Juan Carlos Obando, Jeremy Scott, Current/Elliot, and FIDM Alumni Magda Berliner and Kevan Hall (pictured above) to participate in this earth-friendly fashion event. The designers selected vintage garments that had seen better days and their task was to revamp them however they pleased. The final pieces are available for sale today through May 2, 2009 on eBay, with 100 percent of the proceeds benefitting Future Fashion, an Earth Pledge initiative.

Help Metrolink Victim Racheal Mofya Fight for a Bright Future

Racheal_mofya_dsc0309final_r Although FIDM Student Racheal Mofya has not regained consciousness since surviving the tragic Metrolink train crash on September 12, she is fighting valiantly to stay alive--nodding her head, wiggling her toes, and squeezing family and doctors' hands.

The 27-year old exchange student comes from the impoverished African country of Zambia where her parents died and she was raised by her grandmother. Awarded a scholarship by FIDM, she is an outstanding student who has become like a daughter to her American host family.

Please join FIDM's Beauty Industry Merchandising & Marketing program in supporting Rachael and her family as she fights for the bright future she has worked so hard to obtain.

Direct donations can be made to:
