ShoeArticle Success!

The model in the photo at left is wearing a pair of sandals designed by FIDM Footwear Design Program Grads Cherise Angelle and Nicole LaFave from their Omelle (ähm' elle) line.

Here's a snippit from their site:

"Amidst illustrations, scrap fabrics and inspiration boards at LA's prestigious Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, two shoe-obsessed designers discovered a common interest—luxury footwear with a distinct and imaginative voice."

Sounds like they'll have some interesting things to say in that voice! --Belissa

FIDM Student Wins Grand Prize in Steve Madden Shoe Design Contest

Contest_detail_bethh_2
FIDM Student Beth Macias is the Grand Prize Winner of Steve Madden's Art+Sole Shoe Design Contest! Beth's ultra-cute flat, pictured above, will be featured in Steve's new fall line. When asked about FIDM's impact on her big win, she revealed, "I think the time spent putting everything (seriously EVERYTHING) into your designs gives you a certain confidence about what you're creating and I don't know that I really had that before. You're not going to spend an entire Sunday locked up in your room finishing a collection on Illustrator just to feel so-so about your designs. It's kind of all or nothing." Well, Beth's hard work certainly paid off and we can't wait to see what this footwear aficionado will design next!

FIDM Grad Irene (Yi Ning) Hsu also received special recognition from Steve for her funky and fabulous boot design. Read all about it here. --Kim
