FIDM Alumna and Students Come Together to Benefit Childrens Hospital L.A.

Rumer-willis-hosts-the-bash-04 FIDM Alumna Niki Shadrow recently produced and styled "The Bash of All Bashes," a charity event in support of Childrens Hospital Los Angeles Play Therapy Fund held at Beverly Hills' famed Crustacean restaurant, and FIDM Students served as dressers for the fashion show from Fred Segal Fun.

"This was one of the best experiences I had volunteering for a fashion event while at FIDM," says student Eunice Oh. "It was a pleasure!" The charity event was hosted by Rumer Willis (at right) and featured a special performance from Nikka Costa and DJ Steve Aoki.

FIDM Alumna Ina Soltani Dresses the Stars

A426bq Bosnian native Ina Soltani came to FIDM to study Fashion Design and after graduating in 2006, and working for several L.A.-based companies, she went on to start her own fashion label.

Her self-titled collection of chic dresses has a slew of celebrity fans including Kim Kardashian, Tori Spelling, Kellie Pickler, Demi Lovato, Jessica Biel, and Fergie.

Ina describes her collection as "passionate and glamorous filled with high drama and mystique."

Heidi Montag's $20,000 Monique Lhuillier Gown

As mentioned earlier, Heidi Montag chose FIDM Alumna Monique Lhuillier to design her dress for last weekend's wedding to Spencer Pratt. Monique told Entertainment Tonight that the feathery, strapless gown cost $20,000 and the designer only had a little over three weeks to make the dress, which required 250 hours of work. The reality TV duo said "I do" in Pasadena and the entire event was filmed for The Hills.

Heidi Montag to Wear Monique Lhuillier For Upcoming Wedding

Speidi_blog Like so many celebrities before her, The Hills' Heidi Montag (better known as one-half of the love-to-hate-them duo Speidi) will wear Monique Lhuillier for her upcoming nuptials to Spencer Pratt.

Even though the reality television couple claimed to marry in Mexico, this upcoming wedding (which is expected to be filmed for The Hills) in Pasadena, California will be legal.

Gossip sites are reporting that Montag had her final fitting with the FIDM Alumna at her Los Angeles flagship store.

Celebrity Babies Wearing FIDM Alumna Tori Tierney's Designs

When SF Alumna Tori Tierney was thumbing through the March 16, 2009 issue of US Weekly, she was thrilled to see her own designs being worn by Tori Spelling's baby daughter Stella. Jamie-Lynn Spears' daughter Maddie has also been spotted wearing Toni's pint-sized threads. Toni Tierney Children’s Clothing was established in San Rafael, California in 1994. Her whimsical fashions, which are made of 100% cotton knits, are now available in more than 400 boutiques across the U.S.

"Dancing With the Stars" co-host Samantha Harris recently donned a crimson red silk strapless gown with a pleated bust and asymmetrical gathered side (along with cute pockets) from NIKOLAKI, Alumni and Instructor Nick Verreos' label. Nick was in the audience thanks to an invitation from Samantha's stylist and fellow "Runway" alum Kit Scarbo.

In the same week, judge Carrie Ann Inaba looked gorgeous in a NIKOLAKI turquoise silk jersey draped Grecian-inspired gown from the spring 2009 collection. Nick and his partner David didn't know she would wear the dress until they saw it on the air.

FIDM Grads Wow at the Oscars!

Actress Virginia Madsen, an Oscar nominee in 2005 for "Sideways", graced the Academy Awards red carpet in an elegant red sculptural gown from Kevan Hall. Made of luxurious silk and wool razmir, the gown was specially designed for the actress.

Meanwhile, Robin Wright Penn looked glamorous while celebrating Sean Penn's Best Actor win in a black Monique Lhuillier gown that featured a draped neckline.

FIDM Alumna M'chel Bauxal Makes Up Dakota Fanning

For the last 14 months, FIDM Alumna and celebrity makeup artist M'chel Bauxal has been working on the new animated film Coraline, which is a 3-D, stop motion, animation film. Why would an animated film need a makeup artist? M'chel has made up the cast and crew for various publicity, including electronic press kits, DVD footage, and for the web.

Dakota Fanning, shown here with M'chel, voices the main character in the film, which opens on Feb. 6!

Teri Hatcher and Evan Rachel Wood Choose Lhuillier at SAG Awards

Evanrachel2 Awards season is in full swing! At last night's SAG Awards in Los Angeles, Desperate Housewives actress Teri Hatcher and The Wrestler star Evan Rachel Wood both donned gowns from FIDM Grad Monique Lhuillier.

Hatcher chose a dramatic, architectural white gown that caused a stir on the red carpet outside the Shrine Auditorium.

Meanwhile, Presenter Wood went with a rich jewel tone  one-shoulder number that was reminiscent of Old Hollywood. The young star made numerous best dressed lists. -- Victoria

and Juicy Couture co-founder Pamela Skaist-Levy and her friend and business partner Gela Nash-Taylor were honored at a special ceremony on FIDM's Los Angeles Campus last Thursday night when a stunning visual display dedicated to Juicy Couture was unveiled. The duo also received special commendation from the City of Los Angeles during the ceremony and press conference.

FIDM Instructor and Project Runway star Nick Verreos also attended the event, along with industry notables and FIDM founder Tonian Hohberg. Juicy Coutures stores are located around the world, including Los Angeles, Milan, Tokyo, Beijing, Hong Kong, and Dubai.
