Fashion Design Alumna Giovanna Huaycochea is a freelance fashion designer and illustrator who recently launched her own business. She also finds time to write the Boho Market blog, which focuses on things that inspire her, her work, and fashion trends.

"I'm a free spirited girl, gypsy bohemian at heart and a dreamer. I love fabrics!! I can spend hours in a fabric store, I love getting inspired by the different textiles and textures. I appreciate art and photography, enjoy music, films, and I can't live without chocolate, coffee, and cozy places."

Apparel Manufacturing Management Grad Sahar Hersel Premieres New Line

Apparel Manufacturing Management Graduate Sahar Hersel premiered her line Za Za Zsu during the Designer Launchpad Show at the California Market Center as mentioned in Apparel News.

The one year old line is named for "that certain intangible something that makes you fall head-over-heels-in-love with someone." Sahar says it's the kind of love affair she has had with fashion since watching her mother slip into an evening gown as a five year old girl.

FIDM Alumna Launches New Bridal Collection For Spring 2010

Bridal gown and bridesmaid dress designer Liz Fields has launched an eponymous label with a focus on versatile gowns that can be worn more than once in a lifetime. "I compiled all that I have learned, expanded my mind into the future, and started on a new chapter in the Bridesmaid, Bridal and Special Occasion niche," says the graduate of FIDM. "We set ourselves apart by introducing various two-toned combinations and choice of length on most of our bridesmaid dresses. All the bridal gowns are available in both plus and petite sizes and each gown has its own story to tell."

Fashion Design Grad Designs For Tarrant Apparel Group

Fashion Design alumna Juliet Sun has an exciting career as an assistant designer for Tarrant Apparel Group (private label design for companies such as Macy's, Dillard's, and New York & Company). "What I like most about my job is being flexible and able to design for all purposes," she explains. "I'm learning so much from this job." She credits FIDM's great reputation and extensive network in the industry with helping her to succeed. "My future goal is to combine my fashion background with my business experience," she adds.
 

Interior Design Grad Goes Behind the Camera

Interior Design alumna Julien McRoberts is surrounded by her field of study as an accomplished interiors photographer. "I have worked with Kathy Ireland Worldwide, top interior designers in Sante Fe, and have a wonderful spread coming out in April's Santa Fean magazine featuring the home of the renowned artist Carol La Roche," says Julien, who works with clients in California, Arizona, and New Mexico (including projects for fellow FIDM grad Kathleen Greenberg of KMG Interiors). "It's been my pleasure to reconnect with her."

FIDM Beauty Industry Merchandising & Marketing alumna Jenna Daunais has an exciting career with Smashbox Cosmetics.

"On my favorite days I attend idea labs, coordinate national sales meetings, coordinate company outings and parties, create analytical reports, attend LA Fashion Week, appear on Good Day LA, and create reports. I enjoy every aspect of it."

Stocked at top shops such as American Rag and Fred Segal, Zinke features silk, lace, and color in their camisoles, rompers, boy shorts, and babydoll dresses.

Merchandise Product Development Alumna Keeping Busy in Hollywood

Merchandise Product Development alumna Talia Derksen has found her niche in the entertainment industry. "I have recently been working steady in the costume department on films," says Talia, who was head costume designer on the upcoming film Bones, which is currently in consideration for the Sundance Film Festival."I get to dig deep into every character and really get to know them. I love seeing the characters come to life."

She is currently on the set of The Holiday House, which will air on Lifetime in December and worked on the surfing film Beautiful Wave, which is expected to debut in 2010.
