Merchandise Marketing Alumna Maureen Borsodi recently styled the short film J'attends, and has been nominated for two awards: La Jolla Fashion Film Festival Best Fashion 2013 and International Fashion Film Awards Best Fashion 2013.
What are the costumes/styling like? The styling was based on French New Wave with a flair towards Anna Karina and Jean Belmondo, but kept modern so the characters and styling looked current. In order to keep the audience guessing when the film was shot I mixed vintage pieces and timeless classics with fashion forward finds and on trend colors.
How does it feel to be going to the film festival and potentially winning an award? I am very honored to have worked on this project and proud of the final film. I am also excited to have my work and vision recognized. At the same time it's very surreal to be attending such a prestigious event and speaking to the audience about my work and creative visual. I'm also of course stressing over what I'll wear!
Tell us more about your career. I'm a freelance fashionista! I've been very lucky to have my work range from styling to trend forecasting, buying, design, and creative directing. I get to work on both the creative and business side of fashion, which in an ever-changing business is a great opportunity to have experience on both sides; one to keep me passionate and the other to keep me grounded!
