Instructor Kim Helgeson, who is also a Graduate of FIDM's Merchandise Marketing Program, designed the Mattel Experience, the company's first-ever branded store located at LAX, Terminal 5. Opened in September of last year, the shop is featured in a six-page spread in both Retail Design International and DDI Magazine. "I designed every aspect strategically to entice, engage, and encourage shopping, but also by making memorable brand expereinces for those patrons," the award-winning store designer told DDI.
The Mattel Experience is part of LAX's ongoing remodel, which includes a Kitson shop, Pinkberry, and Ford's Filling Station restaurant. The airport is now focused on showcasting the unique diversity and lifestyle of Los Angeles by including L.A.-based businesses.
