The FIDM Career Center is proud to announce a new dynamic, user-friendly career services system called Career Network! It is filled with features and functions to help FIDM Alumni and current students find professional jobs in the industry pertaining to their major. Within the Career Network, students and alumni can create custom profiles, provide links to portfolio, apply for industry-related jobs, schedule appointments with FIDM Career Advisors and RSVP to Career Center Events. By following the tips below you’ll be able to quickly learn how to adapt to the new system.
Where to Begin
Not sure where to locate the Career Network? Visit your student or alumni portal and click on the “Career Services” tab above. On the left side bar click on “Career Network” and continue to the “Click to enter the Career Network” link.
By logging in to the Career Network system with your portal username and password you’ll be able to get started immediately! Wonder what to do first? Consider visiting the “Getting Started” section on the right sidebar of the homepage. Starting with your account information, you’ll be able to set notifications and privacy settings as well as account info such as password, email and time zone.
Once you have made adjustments to your Career Network account preferences, visit the short cut link to “Personal Profile.” Follow each tab in order to fill out your personal information and academic title. The “Completion Status” on the right sidebar will tell you what information you have filled out thus far. This will help ensure all of your information is there!
Click on the resume tab under quick links to upload resume, cover letter, references and more. Please note that the first time you upload documents, it will need to be approved before it is viewable on your profile.
Schedule an appointment with your Career Advisor
Scheduling through the Career Network is efficient and easy to do. It will not be necessary to visit the Career Center for appointments which will be now done online. By clicking on the “Request Advising Appointment” on the right sidebar on the homepage, you’ll be able to request a specific advisor, time and reason for your appointment. Once requested, you will receive confirmation to your email on file.
You may also locate Advising Appointments under the “Calendar” tab up top by clicking on “Counseling Appointment.”
Searching and Applying for Jobs
Under the “Jobs” tab you will find current job postings from various employers. It’s quick and easy to apply for a job using your professional profile by clicking on the “apply” button under the desired position. There is also the ability to do a refined search by using keywords, position type, job location and more. Not finding what you’re looking for? Career Network also gives you another source called NACElink Network under the “Jobs” tab to explore further job opportunities in your area of interest.
These tips provided scratch the surface of all the services available to current students and alumni through Career Network. Take the time navigate your way through Career Network to take advantage of all the features available! The Career Center team is looking forward to continue providing a dynamic experience for FIDM Students and Alumni to enhance the ability to job search effectively and efficiently.
