Alumna Designs Women's Wear With a Fusion of Culture

Alumna Solome Katongole, who studied Fashion Design at FIDM, designs a ready to wear and custom women's line that marries Western silhouettes with Ugandan fabrics. "It's a fusion of culture and fabrics, I call it cultural couture," says Solome, who was born in Uganda. "The garments are for a fashion forward woman with exclusive taste and not afraid to experiment."

Solome recently celebrated the Ugandan Jubilee in New York with a fashion show and other events held at United Nations International School. "It was a great way to celebrate 50 years of independence through fashion," she adds.
