Twilight Eclipse Stars Will Be Styled by Product Development Grad!
On Thursday, June 24, 2010, the premiere of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse will take place in Los Angeles and FIDM Alumna Melis Kuris will be dressing Peter Facinelli, Charlie Bewley, and Chaske Spencer. Melis, who styles for music videos, editorial, commercials, and the red carpet and works with stars such as Jennie Garth and Keke Palmer. "I love being a stylist because everyday is different and you are constantly working with new celebrities, photographers, and producers," she explains. "Networking is key, but so is dedication and patience."
Melis says that the first Twilight film was one of her biggest career challenges. She was asked to style 10 of the main cast members (including Taylor Lautner, Kellan Lutz, Ashley Green, and Nikki Reed) for all of their press and the premiere. "My house had over 25 racks of clothes and close to 300 pairs of shoes," she remembers. "That job was really what shifted my career to the next gear and seeing all of them on the red carpet together was such a highlight for me."
The L.A.-based stylist currently works with graduating FIDM Student Rebekah Thompson, who she calls her "right hand girl." "We have the same mentality -- work now, play later," Melis says. "She sees the bigger picture in the end, which is hard to do when you're an intern."
