Richard Chan has accepted a highly-coveted three-month internship at Alexander McQueen in London. After graduating from FIDM in 2008, the Advanced Fashion Design Grad attended Academia Koefia in Italy where he studied haute couture. Each year, the Academia awards a scholarship to a student in FIDM's Advanced Fashion Design DEBUT program.

Born and raised in Montreal, Quebec, FIDM Fashion Design Student Maya Shyamprasad is Vice President of Student Council and hopes to one day launch her own fashion line.
"FIDM has a lot to offer, not only academically but with regards to student life. Having moved to Southern California from Montreal, I did not know anyone. By joining organizations such as Student Council, I have found a second family here at FIDM. I feel as though by getting involved with student activities, I am getting more out of the FIDM experience."

Merchandise Product Development Alumna Sarah Eastman has launched Neroli Blossoms Boutique. The online shop features women's clothing, accessories, and gifts. After moving back to the Midwest, Sarah missed the unique boutiques she had in Los Angeles, which led t to the launch of Neroli, named after the essence from the blossom of a bitter orange tree.

But it wasn’t until after she graduated from the University of Victoria with a degree in the arts that the Canadian began considering a career in fashion. Students in FIDM's Footwear Design Program travel to Italy each year to meet with world-class footwear designers and manufacturers while experiencing incredible art and culture.
FIDM Students met with famous footwear designer Armando Pollini at the historical footwear museum (Pietro Bertolini Museum) in Vigevano, outside of Milan. Mr. Pollini, the curator of the museum, gave the students a personally guided tour. Afterward, he took time to view some of the students sketches and critique their designs. The students were thrilled to meet Armando and receive his personal feedback on their work!

Students spent one morning in a footwear factory outside of Florence where they saw shoes being made for the Vera Wang Lavender, Miu Miu and Dolce & Gabanna lines.

What better way to be inspired than by a the art and architecture of Florence, one of Europe's most amazing cities! On their guided tour of Florence, students marveled that they were walking the very same streets that people hundreds of years ago walked. They also visited the Academia Museum to see Michaelangelo's statue The David for the first time.
