Students in FIDM's Footwear Design Program travel to Italy each year to meet with world-class footwear designers and manufacturers while experiencing incredible art and culture.
FIDM Students met with famous footwear designer Armando Pollini at the
historical footwear museum (Pietro Bertolini Museum) in Vigevano,
outside of Milan. Mr. Pollini, the curator of the museum, gave the
students a personally guided tour. Afterward, he took time to view some
of the students sketches and critique their designs. The students were
thrilled to meet Armando and receive his personal feedback on
their work!

At a Shoe Factory
What better way to be inspired than by a the art and architecture of Florence, one of Europe's most amazing cities! On their guided tour of Florence, students marveled that they were walking the very same streets that people hundreds of years ago walked. They also visited the Academia Museum to see Michaelangelo's statue The David for the first time.
