Just Accepted! FIDM Visual Communications Student Leah Ring

LeahNew FIDM Visual Communications Student Leah Ring begins her studies on the Los Angeles Campus next month. 

"I completed my B.A. at Northwestern University which was very traditional in that grades were based on papers, rote memorization, tests, etc. I have always been an artistic person and am thrilled that I will be able to use these skills. I am also so excited to be surrounded by a group of talented and creative peers."

Sneak Peek at "High Style: Betsy Bloomingdale and the Haute Couture"

Bloomies The FIDM Museum & Galleries is debuting a new exhibition, "High Style: Betsy Bloomingdale and the Haute Couture," next month. Running from October 21, 2009 to December 13, 2009, you'll find a stunning collection of more than 100 haute couture garments from the International Best Dressed Hall of Fame icon Betsy Bloomingdale.

Graphic Design Students' Complete CANStruction

FIDM's anticipated CANstruction stiletto shoe is now on view between Harry Winston and Macy's at South Coast Plaza through September 27 during normal plaza hours. On September 13, join FIDM team members for a gala event from 6:30pm to 9:30pm at South Coast Plaza. There will be food, wine, live music, and exclusive raffles. You may purchase tickets here. Congrats to all involved!

Fashion Design Grads Design Wedding Gown for Fox's "Glee"

1459-grph_news-1524 Fashion Design grads Patricia Nevil and Corina Lewinzon, who own bridal boutique L'ezu Atelier in Beverly Hills, were recently asked to to create a special gown (and provide 15 others from the current collection) for Fox's new show Glee.

The silk dupioni gown features "outrageously poofy sleeves and construction details" and is a far cry from L'ezu's offerings at their Robertson Boulevard boutique in Beverly Hills.

FIDM's Scholarship Foundation will work one-on-one with you--at no charge--to uncover scholarship opportunities you may not know about. Contact the Scholarship Foundation at 213-624-1200, ext. 2613 or just stop by the office. Located directly behind the Scholarship Store on the L.A. Campus, the Scholarship Foundation is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

You can also stop by the Financial Services Department on the L.A. Campus from 11:15 to 12:15 on Thursdays for free Scholarship counseling.

"Inglourious Basterds" Costumes on Display in L.A.

Costume design enthusiasts and fans of the new film Inglourious Basterds can get up close and personal to designer Anna Sheppard's work at the Cinerama Dome, The ArcLight (Hollywood and Sherman Oaks), and The Landmark. Quentin Tarantino's latest film is set in wartime France and stars Brad Pitt and Diane Kruger. Sheppard, a two-time Academy Award nominee, worked on Schindler's List, The Pianist, and HBO's Band of Brothers.
