Fashion Design Grad Jade Howe has debuted his Fall 2009 fashion show at Fashion Week Palm Desert and you can watch it by clicking here! Jade's label Howe, which was founded in 2001, is a favorite of musicians such as MGMT, Franz Ferdinand, Linkin Park, and David Cook.
The adorable displays above feature work by Merchandise Product Development Students who completed the Apparel Process II course on FIDM's San Francisco Campus. The course teaches students the basic principles of garment construction and fit--necessary skills for success in the product development field.
The display concept, "La Maison de FIDM," is that of a harried servant waiting while his young ingenue tries on several dresses before making her final selection. The concept was developed and executed by students in the Visual Communications Program.

Product Development Grads accepted into FIDM's intensive nine-month International Manufacturing & Product Development Program are going to be working closely with Tarrant Apparel Group. Students will travel the globe to identify trends, develop styles, and source materials for Tarrant, a private label clothing company that owns trendsetting brand American RAG CIE and supplies clothing to major apparel companies including Macy's, J.C. Penney, and Chicos.

Business Wire has a story on JC Penney's new earth-friendly Simply Green shopping bags, which were designed by top fashion students. One of the three bags is from FIDM Graphic Design Alumna Jocelyn Goode, of Oakland, California, who graduated from FIDM in March. Featuring a fun, fresh wildflower design, Jocelyn's colorful bag mixes style, function, and responsibility. “I hope my bag inspires others to find creative ways to re-use what they have,” she said. The Simply Green bags arrive in stores on April 8, 2009!
