Saks Fifth Avenue Hires 16 FIDM Students

Saks "I just wanted you to know that I have hired sixteen of your students for seasonal sales positions so far, and I still have more work to do," writes Marc Perez, Human Resources Manager for Saks Fifth Avenue. Experience LA Graffiti & Fine Artist Saber at FIDM Museum Shop

Experience Saber, L.A. Graffiti and Fine Artist, at the FIDM Museum Shop in Downtown Los Angeles on Wednesday, November 7. Saber will paint a wall piece from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. He will be signing the book "Mad Society" (available for purchase in the FIDM Museum Shop) at 11:30. At 3:00 p.m. there will be a lecture and slide show inside the Gallery. Don't miss this incredible event! Saber's art will be featured in the FIDM Gallery from 11/5--11/9. --Kim

Sarah_2_2 FIDM Student Sarah Quillian is a shoo-in for any costume contest she may be entering come Halloween--The Fashion Design  student has a special knack for making outrageous, eye-catching costumes! How does she balance life as a FIDM Student with her costume sewing?  It's all about priorities. "The majority of my money goes towards costumes -- fabric and notions and supplies and equipment. Juicy Opens Flagship Store On Rodeo Drive

and co-founder Gela Nash-Taylor have opened a 5,000 square foot Juicy Couture flagship store on Beverly Hills' famed Rodeo Drive. The store, which features a VIP room and a gold suit of armor, will sell the duo's Couture Couture and Juicy lines, as well as a menswear collection. "Couture Couture speaks to that Rodeo customer and Juicy Couture brings a new younger customer. We are bringing life into Rodeo and it's exciting for our customers to see how we express it," Skaist-Levy tells WWD. --Kim

FIDM Grads Randolph Duke and Kevan Hall showed off their latest lines on the runway at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios. The top three looks above are by Kevan Hall, whose designs had a safari motif while the bottom three dazzlers are by Randolph Duke. Yolanda Jackson Awarded Kennedy Center Internship

FIDM Graduate Yolanda Jackson has accepted one of 22 prestigious fall 2007 internships with the world-renowned John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. A 2007 cum laude graduate of FIDM’s Merchandise Product Development Program, Yolanda will gain hands-on experience interning in major gifts development, which secures annual gifts of $25,000 and greater. Her responsibilities will include working with donor stewardship, including preparing materials for donor correspondence and assisting in special event planning. --Kim
