Style Scoop Q&A: Jeremy Parr

Martinandmagpie Before deciding to pursue a career in Fashion Design, FIDM Grad Jeremy Parr was a Chemist with a degree in Biology. After realizing that an artistic life was what he truly desired, he looked to his roots, specifically his grandmother who was a talented artist and seamstress, and decided to become a designer. Now he's mixing concoctions of an altogether different sort as owner and designer of Martin and Magpie, a line of men's and women's urban street and formal wear.

Jeremy, who just graduated from FIDM's Fashion Design program in 2006, recently showed his latest designs on the runway at San Francisco Fashion Week and he's currently working on creating custom jeans and theatre costumes as well as a menswear line for Martin and Magpie. You can purchase Martin and Magpie clothing at San Francisco's cutting edge boutique, RAG. Find out more about Jeremy in our latest Style Scoop Q&A. --Kim

FIDM Interior Design Program Grad Brandon Love was recently hired by an award-winning architectural design firm with offices in Berlin, Beijing, and Los Angeles. Though his contract stipulates that he can't give the firm's name in publications, Brandon did tell us: "I would best describe their work as high-end 'Rebel Architecture' because they are known literally for twisting, sculpting, and bending all the rules of design. My experience so far has been great. The people here are very fun, edgy, and creative. My first project with the firm will be the W Hotel in NYC... Hold on to your hats, it's gonna blow people away." --Kim

Be sure to check out William & Augusta's website for more info because the current theme pays homage to classic screen icons like Lauren Bacall, Elizabeth Taylor, Grace Kelly, and Veronica Lake.

Christian describes the line to Mae West in a playful imaginary interview, revealing "It's like old world glamour meets modern sophisticate--a little playful, allotta' sassy and classic." Christian, formerly Creative Director at Original Penguin, is based in NYC and runs the brand out of his Williamsburg loft.
