FIDM Student Beth Macias is the Grand Prize Winner of Steve Madden's Art+Sole Shoe Design Contest! Beth's ultra-cute flat, pictured above, will be featured in Steve's new fall line. When asked about FIDM's impact on her big win, she revealed, "I think the time spent putting everything (seriously EVERYTHING) into your designs gives you a certain confidence about what you're creating and I don't know that I really had that before. You're not going to spend an entire Sunday locked up in your room finishing a collection on Illustrator just to feel so-so about your designs. It's kind of all or nothing." Well, Beth's hard work certainly paid off and we can't wait to see what this footwear aficionado will design next!

One of the hot, new premium denim labels, Pierce Jeans, is owned by FIDM Apparel Manufacturing graduate David Hwang.
In addition to creating wide legs, high-waisted jeans, skinny greys and
adorable dark washed shorts, Pierce is giving back by donating a
significant portion of their proceeds to children's charities! Using
the finest denim and a body sculpting system that accentuates a woman’s
shape in the waist and bottom, Pierce Jeans features different washes
that highlight the depth of color -- no wonder Eva Longoria and Teri
Hatcher are fans!
