Crime Chic: FIDM Grad Designs Costumes for CSI

Csi_2 FIDM Alumna Eileen Cox Baker has been the Costume Designer on the hit CBS show CSI: Crime Scene Investigation for more than 160 episodes! “The pace is really quick,” Eileen says of the award-winning show. “Every five days there’s a new script on my desk and sometimes I can hardly keep who’s murdering who straight.”

Because of the nature of the CSI, Eileen and her costume department often needs six to eight outfits for each character. “I need one dead, one clean, and some in between,” Eileen says with a laugh. She collaborates with the director on various looks and ideas and then has her team get the actors’ sizes, shops and then conducts fittings.

Bebe ♥'s FIDM

Cardonarunway

In March we showed you star-studded pix from FIDM Alum David Cardona's recent runway show for hot apparel company Bebe.

But did you know that in addition to David Cardona over 25 FIDM Grads are currently working in all areas, from Design through Production, at Bebe Studio in Century City?

"FIDM is our first resource when we approach staffing needs," says Sally Daliege, Bebe's Senior Studio Development Manager. "We rely on FIDM for its intelligent and creative graduates. They come ready to work and have achieved a level of expertise from their education. We love our partnership with FIDM!"

Just one more great example of the many incredible opportunities available with a degree from FIDM!

FIDM Grad Shows Wylde Side!

We recently caught up with FIDM Alumna Jene Fuchs, who is COO for the luxury lifestyle brand Thomas Wylde, which is carried at stores like Maxfield in L.A., Kate Daniels in Seal Beach and Barney’s in New York. Jene oversees everything from design and product development to sales, production, shipping, customer service, logistics, and even accounting.

Thomaswyldefgk1062t_2 After a day of working with the sales team in New York and the design team in Los Angeles, Jene says, "My real job begins at 6pm when I start calling Asia checking on production, product development and shipping. I work with my shipping team in Seoul navigating everything from my Mac computer."

In her current role, Jene makes trips to Korea, China, India, Paris, and New York. "Traveling chic is part of my job," reports the mother of twin girls. "I get to wear amazing clothes everyday from the Thomas Wylde collection and I change my outfits a few times a day."

Could you see yourself running the show like Jene?
